People Who Work in a Mosque
Much more than just a building, a mosque is a vital community center where followers of Islam gather for prayer and fellowship. Many people play an important role in the daily operations of a mosque.
Central to the mosque is the imam, a revered spiritual leader and Islamic law scholar. Large mosques with thousands of members may be managed by a chief executive officer (CEO) who handles financial operations. Mosques also need a team of behind the scenes workers such as custodians, office clerks, groundskeepers and kitchen helpers. Security guards may be hired to help ensure the safety of worshippers and protect the mosque from bias-motivated vandalism.
